Sad farewell to our Suzuki Across PHEV

One spell covering some six weeks and well over 1,000 miles saw an mpg return of 148.5! On a longer 250+ mile round trip with the petrol engine doing all the work, the Suzuki returned 44.8mpg which is nothing to be sniffed at. Overall, the return over the full 2,121 miles averaged out at 95.06mpg while the battery consumed an average of 2.8 miles per kWh

Long term test – Suzuki Across PHEV, going the extra miles!

Our first fill up was after 547 miles and the return was 71.9mpg, since then we have covered  further 1,200 miles before our second fill! A return of 148.5 miles to the gallon. Pretty impressive although most of those miles have been fairly short journeys and so the 50 mile electric range has been sufficient.

Long term test – Suzuki Across PHEV

The Across, however, gives almost 50 miles of range (47 indicated after a charge) and that’s pretty decent even for a rural location like mine. Most daily trips here easily eat up 30-40 miles, so a quick overnight on the home charger is a good ‘un for daily use. Theoretically I would probably only have to visit a petrol station once every 2-3 months.

Long term test – Suzuki Across PHEV

Well, you’ve probably seen the Suzuki Across on the site a few weeks ago and our review stated that it ticks many of my boxes – so many in fact that we have the car back for a longer look and we’ll be updated our view as we go along.

Suzuki Across PHEV – ticks many boxes

Never been a big fan of plug-in hybrids due to the fact that the range has never been that good and there’s generally too much input from the petrol engine. The Across, however, gives almost 50 miles of range (47 indicated after a charge) and that’s pretty decent even for a rural location like mine. Most daily trips easily eat up 30-40 miles, so a quick overnight on the home charger is a good ‘un for daily use.
