Class act – BMW G05 X5 xDrive45e M Sport XB1 PHEV
Thanks to CO2 emissions of 27-31g/km, the X5 falls into the 7% benefit-in-kind tax banding. Factor in combined fuel consumption of up to 235.4mpg and an electric-only range of up to 54 miles, and the X5 plug-in hybrid makes good sense both to drivers and fleet managers.
EV fleet transition smoother than anticipated
AX’s research revealed that the fleet managers of businesses yet to start their EV transition were expecting significant disruption to vehicle incident management processes as a result of electrification. However, those who had already begun the process of EV adoption said they had experienced less of an effect.
EV isolator problem no closer to being resolved
Electricity industry regulations were changed last year to require at least two visits to fit an EV charger, including one from a representative of an energy provider to fit the isolator. To reverse the decision or adopt a better solution requires agreement from around 40 energy providers – but that doesn’t seem to be forthcoming. In the meantime, fleets and their drivers are having to wait long periods for their home chargers to be fitted while paying more, which is a genuine headache at a point in time when many fleets are enthusiastically pursuing electrification strategies
SME fleets go for outright purchase
By buying vehicles outright, businesses risk tying a lot of capital into vehicles over a long period of time, while leaving them open to possibly not getting the best deal as leasing companies are increasingly offering competitive all-in-one packages for a fixed monthly price. Equally, selling vehicles privately takes considerable time and effort and could divert resources away from the day job.
Europcar accelerates EV adoption with key OEM additions
Latest additions include an order for several hundred Tesla Model 3 for long-term business rental and a number of Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 SUV models, initially available from Heathrow Airport. Ron Santiago, Managing Director, Europcar Mobility Group UK said the diversity of the latest additions to the Europcar fleet goes to the heart of giving businesses wide choice for a variety of use cases.
